Following removal of broken substrate the bottom stair and ledge-wall were re-inforced with re-bar and forms were placed. Removal of the damaged ledge-wall concrete revealed a rotted wooden column. Rotted framework was removed and replaced through splicing in treated lumber. The faux brick design was requested by the client to ensure a continuous pattern. The edges were carefully feathered and brick pattern duplicated to avoid looking like it had been repaired after painting.
All stair edges were re-formed and rounded to add depth and design. Both stair risers and flats have been overlayed in one continuous pour to eliminate overlap marks and cold joints. Covering all the repair-work with an overlay improves appearance and enhances the structural integrity of the project. The overlay product is still curing in these photos.
